Delivery Coordinator π
You would be helping arrange support for people who have contacted us, such as organising food parcels or errands, using our internal systems and by requesting assistance from community volunteers. You would work with an experienced delivery lead and other delivery co-ordinators.
Skills needed: DBS check, good communication skills (particularly over the phone). Some experience working with adults at risk/safeguarding would be brilliant, but is not required. Ability to use WhatsApp and Google Sheets.
Time commitment: The role is done in whole-day shifts: 10am to 4.30pm (with breaks). We ask volunteers to commit to one day a week.
Phone Volunteer π
You would be answering our public phone line (through call forwarding to your own phone), and passing details of callers’ needs on to the relevant team members. Sometimes this is a food parcel, sometimes itβs more complex.
Skills needed: Good communication skills (particularly over the phone). Experience working on a helpline, in customer service, or other phone experience would be great. Some experience working with adults at risk/safeguarding would also be useful, but is not required. Ability to use Slack online office space.
Time commitment: The role is done in whole-day or half-day shifts on a flexible basis, but at least once per week. The volume of calls is variable, but you won’t receive constant calls all day.
Sourcing Coordinator π
You would call local shops, supermarkets and wholesalers to find the items we need. You will work within the Sourcing team to strategize weekly bulk purchases as well as working to negotiate and reduce costs of operation.
Skills needed: Comfortable communicating over the phone.
Time commitment: The role is done in shifts – either 9-1pm or 1-5pm. Ideally, volunteers will do two shifts a week.
Hall Coordinator βͺ
You would be in charge of organising any deliveries to and from our hall (on Cowley Rd) that day. These can include regular deliveries and one-off donations; making sure the hall is open to send out food parcels; and sending any surplus perishables on to other food larders. This job does not require being in the hall in person, or direct contact with vulnerable people. You would liaise with other volunteers, delivery coordinators and the support team.
Skills needed: Ability to use WhatsApp and Google Sheets.
Time commitment: The role is done in shifts – either 9-1pm or 1-7pm. Ideally, volunteers will do two shifts a week.
Case Manager π
You would join the OMA team who help support people in our community who have additional needs, such as homelessness, experiences of abuse, or who are experiencing a crisis of some kind. You would be a point of contact for the person we are supporting, providing support and signposting, and helping organise food deliveries as needed.
Skills needed: DBS check, good communication skills (particularly over the phone), experience providing 1-1 support to at-risk adults.
Time commitment: Dependent on how many cases you are helping with, but 3hrs+ a week at times to suit you/the people you are supporting, as well as a weekly team meeting.
Grant writer βοΈ
You would prepare proposals for funding organisations to help us get stable, reliable income. We also use and update internal statistics to help support these applications and keep the rest of OMA informed on the great work we’re doing.
Time commitment: 5 hours per week, any time.
Logistics Coordinator (Kitchen Collective Deliveries) π
You would be working within a growing team to coordinate deliveries of reheatable meals across Oxford. You would be working to organise deliveries for one day of the week, providing up to 200 meals to some very happy households!
Skills needed: Ability to use WhatsApp, Google Sheets, and routing software to identify the routes which we then send to our amazing drivers.
Time commitment: 6 hours across two days/week.
Logistics Coordinator (Kitchen Collective Food) π©βπ³
You would be liaising with chefs, venues and food suppliers to ensure the production of reheatable meals each week. You would be working with a large variety of teams across OMA, including hall management, sourcing and delivery.
Time commitment: 1 hour per day at most, depending on demand. You will need to be able to respond to changes quickly and be responsive to messages, so flexibility will help hugely!
Graphic Designer π¨
Creating graphics for print and web as requested by other OMA teams. We have lots of pre-prepared resources available, including all our standard image assets and a style guide, so you will not be starting from scratch!
Skills needed: experience creating designs for printing leaflets and posters, web platforms, etc.
Time commitment: 3-5 hours per week. You will need to be responsive to requests, and ideally complete them within 2 working days.
Training and Recruitment Coordinator π©βπ«
You would provide basic training to incoming volunteers, briefing them over the phone and familiarising them with OMA systems, as well as helping recruit more volunteers to support OMA. This may also involve keeping track of internal capacity and monitoring where more recruitment is needed.
Time commitment: 7 hours per week. You will need to be able to respond to demand (e.g. 2 hours one day, none the next).
Administrative Assistant β¨οΈ
You would provide administrative assistance to OMA in writing proposals, contacting businesses and local organisations and setting up meetings.
Skills needed: Ability to use Whatsapp, Google Sheets.
Time commitment: 10 hours per week anytime.
Communications Assistant π¬
You would liaise with external organisations, including those supporting at-risk individuals across the city and local and national political organisations.
