Volunteer on the ground

We need Oxford-based volunteers to join our teams delivering on the ground support, be that picking up shopping, dropping off food parcels, or helping run our storage base on Cowley Road.

You’ll join a friendly Oxford-based team who will be really glad of your helping hands!

Community Volunteer 📲

Join your local OMA whatsapp group, where we post requests for help like shopping trips or prescription pick-ups. You can also request help for yourself or people you know.

What skills you need: nothing but a willingness to help your local community!

Time commitment: as and when you can help, errands normally take less than half an hour

Keen to help? fill in this Google Form to be added to your local WhatsApp group.

Volunteer Driver 🚗 + 🚚

We have lots of regular driving errands, such as picking up surplus food from supermarkets and delivering food parcels or meals to people in the community.

What skills you need: a valid driving licence and a vehicle. As some of our pick-ups and collections are quite large, we are urgently looking for more van drivers!

Time commitment: a recurring weekly trip of 1-2 hours.

Hall Assistant 📦

What it involves: packing food parcels, checking inventories, arranging pick-ups and deliveries, as well as general maintenance of our storage facility.

Skills Needed: Food Safety Hygiene Training would be ideal.

Time Required: The shifts are 10am-12pm, 2.30pm-4.30pm and 5-7pm. You would need to commit to a certain shift or number of shifts per week.
